History

The origins of Palomino date back to 1968 when founder Vern Landey, a tent trailer distributor, decided to start building his own units. These were more lightweight with better floorplans, all at a lower price. The initial production hub was in Savage, Minnesota, but their popularity grew so quickly that by 1972, they had to upgrade to bigger facilities in Colon, Michigan, which also put them closer to their competition. Production continued to boom, even when a fire destroyed the main production building and offices in 1992.

 

Palomino took another leap in 1998 when they opened a 75,000 sq. ft. production facility to keep up with growing demand. It also started production on the new travel trailer ultra-lightweight line. In 2002, Palomino’s parent company, Vanguard, was purchased by Forest River, incorporating Palomino into one of the largest RV manufacturers in North America. Because of this, they saw a massive boom in sales and production while still operating independently from their new parent company. This allows them to maintain their commitment to their customers as a manufacturer with some of the best resources and the attitude of a small business. That’s why Palomino is one of the top five RV manufacturers in North America with over 300 dealers.
